The HPerformance 3.5’ 90mm downpipe replaces the original downpipe. The original downpipe has a large constriction directly on the flange after the turbocharger outlet. The standard catalytic converter is located close to the engine and directly after the turbocharger. As soon as the engine is loaded with more boost pressure, more exhaust gas volume is produced as a result. If no mechanical relief is provided, this results in an increase in exhaust gas temperature and exhaust back pressure. The HPerformance downpipe replaces the standard front catalytic converter and has either 2 x 400 cell catalytic converters, 2 x 100 cell catalytic converters or so-called catalytic converter replacement pipes, which are no longer positioned after the turbocharger but under the vehicle. This greatly improves the thermal performance and the exhaust gas flow / exhaust gas back pressure. Depending on the regulations in your country and the intended use of the downpipe or vehicle, you can choose from three variants.
All our downpipe solutions (400 cell, 100 cell or with catalytic converter replacement pipes) offer a significant drop in exhaust gas temperature and exhaust back pressure compared to the standard downpipe. In addition, the sound is noticeably throatier and deeper, and misfiring occurs when downshifting. Removing the standard downpipe and changing to the HPerformance downpipe increases performance by around 8-9% compared to the original. The back pressure is reduced by around 0.45 bar for stage 2 vehicles and by up to 1 bar for stage 3 vehicles.
Any change to catalytic converters (replacement, change of cells or size - different from the original) requires a software adjustment of the engine control unit. Our TÜV catalytic converters are supplied without TÜV documentation. In combination with our software and hardware, they fulfil the requirements for TÜV registration. You can have them registered at our premises or at one of our authorised dealers in conjunction with a software performance upgrade.
